Real people. Real conversations.
In a world of online threads, Stack Overflow answers, and AI assistants, there's something irreplaceable about being in a room with other people who get what you do. People who've hit the same Umbraco bug at 4pm on a Friday. People who'll sketch a solution on a napkin over a beer. People who'll celebrate your wins like they're their own.
That's what UmbLeeds is. Since 2015, we've been meeting on the first Thursday of every month at venues across Leeds city centre. Developers, content editors, designers, project managers, agency owners, freelancers — if you've ever logged into the Umbraco backoffice (or want to), you're one of us. Over a decade of pizza, pints, and passionate CMS conversations.
Why show up in person?
Learn things you can't Google
The best insights come from someone who's already solved your exact problem. Our talks cover real-world Umbraco challenges — the kind of hard-won knowledge that never makes it into documentation.
Grow your network
The Yorkshire Umbraco community is tighter than you'd think. Freelancers find subcontractors. Agencies find talent. Developers find their next role. It starts with a conversation at a meetup.
Stay current
Umbraco moves fast. New backoffice, new packages, new integrations. Hearing from people who are shipping real projects keeps you ahead of the curve without drowning in blog posts.
Give back
Spoken at a conference? Great. Never spoken publicly? Even better. UmbLeeds is a safe space to share what you know, try a lightning talk, or demo something you've built. Everyone starts somewhere.
What to expect
A typical UmbLeeds evening looks like this:
Grab some pizza, a drink, and catch up with familiar faces (or introduce yourself to new ones).
Quick roundup of Umbraco news, community updates, and upcoming events.
A talk, workshop, hackathon, or lightning talks. Topics range from deep technical dives to broader digital strategy.
The unofficial second half. Conversations continue at the venue or a nearby pub.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be an expert?
Not at all. We welcome complete beginners, content editors, designers, project managers, and seasoned developers alike. The only requirement is curiosity.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Umbraco Leeds is completely free to attend. We usually have pizza and drinks provided by our generous sponsors.
How do I join?
RSVP on our Meetup page.
I'd like to give a talk. How?
We'd love that. Speak to one of the organisers at the next event. We're always looking for speakers — first-timers especially welcome.
Where do you meet?
Different venues around Leeds city centre. The location is posted on the Meetup event page each month. Past venues include MSQ DX, Bracken Workspace, The Cross Keys, and more.
Come and say hello
The next meetup is always just around the corner. RSVP, turn up, and we'll do the rest. Friendly faces guaranteed.
This website was built at an UmbLeeds hackathon one spring evening in 2027, because that's the kind of thing that happens when you put Umbraco people in a room together.
